VISITS & WORKSHOPS
Elementary school visits typically consist of a 45 minute visual presentation in which I introduce myself, read from one of my books and explain my creative process from start to finish through a series of slides. At the end of the visual presentation, I engage the students in brainstorming activities through creative exercises using art and imagination. For full day visits, I can also spend 30-45 minutes in individual classrooms to teach creative writing intensives. Teachers can choose specific areas of focus which include story structure, character building, finding your voice, perspective and show don't tell. I teach these topics using creative games as well as writing and illustration exercises.
Lastly, I distribute leave behinds for teachers and students that include coloring pages and creative exercises. My school visits are recommended for grades K-3.
HALF DAY VISIT $500.

Bookstore or library visits consist of a reading of one or more of
my books as well as a fun correlating craft activity followed by book signings.
In addition to author appearances, I am available to teach creative writing classes or
weekend workshops at local bookstores and libraries. Recommended for grades 3-6
DETAILS
I ask that schools please print and circulate my AUTHOR VISIT FLYER among students
2-3 weeks prior to my visit to encourage book sales. I am more than happy to stay after the presentations to personalize and sign any books that are purchased.
